A little about the host Hara Makers, Hara Makers is an upcycling social enterprise based on a circular economy model that uses waste to promote environmental sustainability, community engagement and education. As a long-term goal, they aim to change the livelihood of community members by empowering them using cutting-edge technology and providing them with the tools and resources to build solutions to the problems within the community. In Hara Makers, their community can move forward on waste reduction with simple and sustainable solutions while creating a more inclusive society together.
The workshop facilitator, Chee Lee Yoon, is the co-founder of Hara Maker Initiative, and now working on the Reimagine Plastic Project. The project is targeting plastic bags and transforming the plastic bags into usable items again. She is also a language lecturer in a local institution. She had conducted more than 20 workshops and talks to schools, corporates and public.
The Taman Tugu guided walk will cover 1.5km of the Taman Tugu trails. This will take about 45mins. During the walk, participants will learn more about the background and history of the site, interesting facts of the trails or trees or plants, the role of forests and the initiatives taken to help preserve and conserve this 66-acre green lung.
The journey towards a more sustainable future starts today. Hope to see you there!
