Freelance Electronics Technician / Engineer

NERDIE TECH. is in the process of producing its first product batches (Qi wireless chargers, NFC smart fobs, power bank assemblies). We need a hands-on electronics technician who can work at our Nerdie Makerspace bench to assemble, test, and quality-check electronics sub-assemblies. This is a practical, physical role. You will be soldering, testing, debugging, and assembling, not just reading about it.

Someone else will handle firmware and PCB design. We need someone who can execute the physical assembly side reliably, read a schematic, identify a wrong component, and tell us when something doesn't work and why.

What You'll Be Working On

• SMD and through-hole soldering of PCB assemblies (boards come pre-populated from JLCPCB, but some manual work is needed for final assembly)
• Qi coil and PCB integration into product housings
• NFC chip placement and programming verification (we use NTAG213; programming is simple, verification is critical)
• Power bank cell connection, BMS wiring, and capacity testing
• Continuity checks, functional testing, and basic fault diagnosis
• Recording assembly defects and communicating clearly with the design team
• Occasional help with prototyping new designs, or building one-offs from a schematic

Requirements

• Competent SMD soldering: can reliably solder 0805 passives and SOIC ICs by hand
• Reads schematics and PCB layouts (can trace a circuit, identify component values, spot an incorrect placement)
• Uses a multimeter, bench power supply, and basic test equipment confidently
• Understands basic electronics safety: ESD precautions, battery cell handling, polarity
• Has worked with Li-ion or LiFePO4 batteries, and understands the risks and safe handling
• Methodical and careful: can work to a checklist without cutting corners
• Available to work on-site in Klang Valley on a flexible schedule (project-based)
