The word 'Zephyr' stands for gentle breeze from the west, signifying the usage of air/wind in flute playing with gentle colours.
Zephyr Flute Ensemble was founded in 2009 by Ho Chee Kiang with the purpose to advocate the arts and promote excellence in flute music through performances, compositions, workshops and so on.
A flute ensemble typically consists of instruments belonging to the flute family. These typically include the piccolo, flute, alto flute, and bass flute. In the spirit of the arts and music making, Zephyr Flute Ensemble is always looking forward to collaborations.
Zephyr Flute Ensemble was invited to perform at the 2015 International Wind Band Festival in Taiwan. The ensemble has also performed with Roberto Álvarez in 2017, Koh Yew Kia and Yap Siu Yan in 2019 at UCSI University. Furthermore, Zephyr Flute Ensemble pioneered the Chamber Wind Project at KLpac and was part of the lineup from concert series I (2011) to V (2019).
