HOW AND WHY TALES FROM BORNEO (Mandarin Immersion Storytelling & Craft Workshop) Recommended for kids aged 5 to 10 years Have a child who speaks Mandarin or is learning Mandarin in school? Join Mr Ng Kok Keong and Ms Au Ting Wei, two engaging and experienced storytellers for a very unique session where your child can be immersed in the Mandarin language, learn new Mandarin words as they discover stories about Bornean culture. Parents will also be able to gain valuable insights on how to use Chinese picture books and stories to help children learn Mandarin. Mr Ng and Ms Au will tell children three Bornean "How and Why" Tales: "Why Do Mosquitoes Buzz at Human Ears?" (A Kadazan Folktale) and "How the Tapir Got Its Colour?" (An Orang Asli Folktale from the book "Malaysian Children's Favourite Stories"; and "The Adventure of Sumandak" from the book "The Singing Top". As a take home craft, children will also learn how to make a paper Tapir. The session will be conducted mainly in Mandarin with some English translations where needed. Children will need to bring their own glue and scissors, all other materials for the craft will be provided. *IMPORTANT NOTE: Aside from the workshop fee for each child, please note that accompanying adults will also need to purchase an entry ticket to the main Tamu (Tamu entry is free for children).
