About Us

The British Council first operated in Thailand as part of the British Embassy in 1952 to promote education and cultural opportunities between Thailand and the UK. We opened our office in Siam Square, a vibrant commercial district of Bangkok, in 1970 before relocating to our present location at the Wittayakit Building in Siam Square in 1996. Currently we have three offices in Thailand, two in Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai. We strive to deliver mutually beneficial programmes which create lasting impact across Thai society and with the individuals we work with, innovating with digital technology and new solutions through our work in Education, English and Arts.
