About Us

Creativity

Set up in 2007, The Malaysian Composers Collective (MCC) is a non-profit organisation aimed primarily at promoting Malaysian contemporary classical music both locally and internationally. As the member organisation in the Asian Composers League (ACL), MCC also sends the country’s young composers to represent Malaysia at the Young Composers Competitions at the ACL festivals around the region every 2 years. Through its first decade, MCC has pioneered a series of milestone initiatives, including the nation’s first ever Young Composers Workshop with HSBC Bank (2008), the first new music festival the KL Contemporary Music Festival (KLCMF) 2009 with Goethe Institut, the country's first ever Free Hand Piano Festival (2019) and first published anthology of 21st Century Malaysian piano works, the ‘Free Hand Anthology I' featuring composers from across the nation and from varying backgrounds and ages.

MCC's music have been featured internationally on BBC Radio 3 and on Polish, Germany and Australian radio stations.
