Unleash your inner artist and join us for a truly unique experience at the Advanced Weave Workshop by United Voice. Delve into the captivating world of Saori weaving and embark on a journey of self-expression and social impact.
Kick off this immersive adventure by immersing yourself in the artistry of weaving. Our skilled instructors will guide you through advanced weaving techniques, helping you create intricate patterns and textures that reflect your personal rhythm and style.
But this workshop is more than just art – it's an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. By participating, you're supporting the growth of our employment program for Persons with Learning Disabilities, championing inclusivity and empowerment.
During the workshop, participants will receive 2 meters of Saori fabric to weave, allowing them to take home a 2-meter self-woven Saori cloth and learn to set up a weaving loom. As the loom and threads intertwine, you'll not only craft a beautiful Saori masterpiece but also gain a deeper understanding of your creative potential and the positive change your efforts can bring. How to prepare
Prepare for an enriching weaving journey in our Advanced Weave Workshop. Here's how to make the most of this transformative experience: Weaving Basics (Prior knowledge of basic weaving techniques is recommended, as this workshop delves into advanced methods. Familiarity with warp, weft, and basic pattern creation will enhance your learning journey.); Materials (Feel free to bring your preferred weaving tools and yarns, although all necessary materials will be provided. Having a selection of colors and textures in mind will add a personal touch to your creations.); Open Mind (Approach the workshop with an open mind and a willingness to explore new creative horizons. Embrace experimentation and allow your artistic intuition to guide you.); and Enthusiasm (Bring your passion for weaving and a readiness to learn and engage. The workshop is designed for adults who are eager to enhance their weaving skills and make a positive impact.)

United Voice (UV) is the first society in Malaysia that is led by persons with learning disabilities which was registered in July 2005. Our members (120 members) include persons with Down Syndrome, Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy and other specific learning disabilities.
United Voice is a unique and vibrant self-advocacy group not only in Malaysia but also within the Asian Region. We are the anchoring self-advocacy group that is active and has significant achievement in the self-help movements in Malaysia. We believe that Self-Advocacy is a necessary movement to ensure that the quality of life for persons with learning disabilities continue to progress as our country moves towards being an industrialized nation.
